A Word from the Director (click to expand)

Joshua VickeryThank you for taking the time to learn more about us! Central Florida Community Arts, a non-profit arts organization, is making a HUGE difference in our community. We exist to give every artist of every age a cultural platform to connect, serve and perform, while advancing the arts in Central Florida. We are now the home to 400 community choir members, a 130-piece community orchestra, a full children/youth arts program with 100 kids, and Legacy!, a pro-level ensemble whose members serve as vocal ambassadors to our community.
We have recently opened the CFCArts School of Performing Arts in our new home downtown — here we will host private music instruction of all disciplines, workshops, and dance classes. Even though our patron base continues to grow with 5,300 attendees at one of our most recent concerts, the heartbeat of why we exist is still to serve our community through the arts by partnering with other local non-profits and charities to bring the arts to them at no cost!

We invite you to explore this site to learn more about becoming a patron, volunteer, member, or donor, and would the love the opportunity to give you a tour of our facility and answer any questions about our programs! I love our mission and we are clear and concise about our goals and our future!

These are exciting days at Central Florida Community Arts! Will you join us?

— Joshua Vickery
Executive Director of CFCArts

For the safety of our young performers, all Children and Youth Arts program activities except concerts are closed to visitors. Please contact our Senior Director of Children/Youth Arts Program, Melissa Braillard, at Melissa.Braillard@cfcommunityarts.com for more information.

The Children and Youth Arts program was designed to train and educate young performers, age 2 through 12th grade, through musical theater to become skilled in the areas of singing, acting, and dancing. Now in its 7th season, the Children and Youth Arts program has grown into an artistic community where each young performer is given the tools needed to become a successful, confident artist and the means to carry those skills throughout life.

The goal of this program is not only to provide the young people of Central Florida with a place to use their artistic talents, but also to be a venue for our children and youth to learn the value of giving back to the Community, through the gift of music. Performers will participate in community events throughout the season and the funds raised during each performance will help provide summer music camps to underprivileged children in our community.

Registration for our 2014 summer camps is now open!

CFCArts’ Children and Youth Summer Camps are designed to use performing arts to build critical life skills in each participant. Our professional instructors use music and staging, acting games, arts and crafts, choreography, and rehearsal terminology to explore the fun of theatre. Each camp curriculum encourages imagination, teamwork and collaboration, respect for self and others, healthy and constructive choices, and builds self-esteem in a safe, creative environment.

We are also thrilled to announce the addition of Band Camps for Middle and High School students. Students will have the opportunity to work with professional clinicians who specialize on their instruments. Each student will prepare and perform appropriate music that is fun, while challenging their musical skills.

Guests are always welcome to attend our Orchestra rehearsals!

The Central Florida Community Arts orchestra was established in the Fall of 2011. Our performances are designed to entertain our audience several times a year, while challenging our performers on a weekly basis. We play a repertoire that ranges from Lennon and McCartney to Rossini and Copland to The Planets and The Lord of the Rings. Members of our orchestra have accompanied the CFCArts choir for their major concerts and summer Broadway performances, playing for over 2500 patrons at a time. Our members have also formed several small ensembles including a string quartet, a flute choir, and a brass quintet and brass ensemble, providing new performance opportunities and allowing our orchestra to increase our community outreach efforts.

Our orchestra has grown so much since its inception that we now often divide it into a String Orchestra and a Wind Ensemble. For their Spring 2014 season, they focused on separate concerts, which is now followed by their Summer season, which will be a concert of both groups combined.

From amateurs to professionals, our 130-piece orchestra is about music and the love of playing in a community setting. It’s non-auditioned so if you are age 16 or over and would like to play with us for this Summer 2014 season, fill out an application, pay the annual due and see why we think we have one of the best community orchestras out there! If you play regularly or are simply looking for a place to re-start after years away from playing, we welcome you to join us!
