From the Mouths of Monsters
Join the CFCArts Youth Theatre Troupe for a one-act play by contemporary American playwright and breakbeat poet Idris Goodwin. From the Mouths of Monsters incorporates elements of hip-hop, rap, and spoken word and is centered on important contemporary issues from racial and gender identity to friendship and family. Teenage poet Michelle is used to fading into the background. Performing at a poetry slam feels impossible, until she is offered a mask with the power to remove the wearer’s doubts. But when the mask proves to have other strange powers, Michelle must dig deeper to find her true voice. An imaginative slam-poetry fable inspired by Frankenstein. Content Warning: This production should be considered PG-13 due to frank talk of death, violence, and minor language.
