Hello and Welcome to James and the Giant Peach!

Thank you for joining us today in the fantastic, wonderful world of Roald Dahl’s James and the Giant Peach. Dahl’s stories have always been a source of excitement for me with his wacky stories and their young protagonists being the driving force of change. My inspiration for this show came from James’ need to escape the terrible world in which he lives. He uses the power of imagination to help him overcome his challenges and encourages others to do the same. The students have enthusiastically embraced the tasks of welcoming the odd, splendiferous world of Dahl by committing to larger than life storytelling through eccentric characters, quirky props, and even a sweet peach.

This ensemble of students has continued to challenge themselves and encourage each other to create a story where everyone has the chance to make an impact. This being my last show with CFCArts, I have been continually impressed by the students’ commitment to their craft and also their commitment to one another. They are always there to care for, learn with, and collaborate with their fellow peers. I feel so lucky to have worked with such an incredible group of students. They should be very proud of their work, as I and so many others are endlessly proud of them.

I strongly believe in the power of imagination to help us escape into a world where we can manifest the best for ourselves and others. We all need the chance to escape. There is no harm in doing that. We all need that reminder from time to time. And what better time to do it? Come follow James and the rest of this marvelous bunch of characters as they take you on a journey where the imagination has no limits.

Enjoy the show!
