Our History

In February of 2011, Central Florida Community Arts kicked off the first part of its five-tiered vision with the Central Florida Community Choir. Since that time, the choir has grown to over 400 voices in upwards of five different styles of choirs who have performed full concerts. Themes have run the gamut from patriotic, to Christmas,  classical, Broadway, gospel, Disney, songs from the ’60s, and ’70s hits! Choir members have the opportunity to give back to the community by performing for over 100 nonprofit organizations at no cost! Our organization is community-based and our choir is non-auditioned, so anyone age 18+ can join.

About the Team

A Native Floridian, Brandon began singing and playing piano at a young age. He was a member of the Bach Festival Children’s Choir. He directed his first choir at age 15 and has continued to direct choirs and ensembles since. He was an All-State Musician in 2003 and graduated from Seminole State College, where he studied Music. He currently works in Entertainment at Walt Disney World.

Shannon Lynn Carson holds a Bachelor of Music Education, with a focus on voice, from Stetson University. While teaching chorus and musical theatre in Orange County, her choirs received numerous superior ratings. She is a member of the Festival Singers of Florida and has performed in community theatre throughout the Central Florida area. Favorite roles include Belle (Beauty & the Beast), Marian (The Music Man), Rosa Bud (…Edwin Drood), and Eve (Children of Eden). Shannon has served in various roles within CFCArts since 2013. Previously, she was involved with the Children Youth Arts Program as a Musical Theatre Director and the Youth Ensemble Director. She also directed the New Works Chorale for the adult choir program. In addition to her work with CFCArts, she is the Co-Director and Choreographer for the Gotha Middle School Musical Theatre Program. Having received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing, she is a full-time Registered Nurse in the NICU at Winnie Palmer Hospital for Women & Babies and on the Acute Pediatrics unit at Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children.

Melody grew up in Florida and was very active in the arts throughout high school. She was classically trained in piano for 13 years and has performed with various vocal ensembles since the age of 6. While her husband was in the United States Marine Corps, they were stationed in North Carolina for 7 years. During that time, she was invited to join the American Military Spouses Choir and has performed with them since 2012. Since moving back to Kissimmee, she joined the CFCArts Community Choir and her son is very active with the CFCArts Children and Youth Arts Programs. She is very thankful for the opportunity to join the CFCArts team!
