Students in Grades 3 through 12 this school year: Audition for our advanced Youth Theatre Troupe Musical: A Christmas Carol!

Broadway heavy hitters, Alan Menken (Disney’s Beauty and the Beast, Disney’s The Little Mermaid, Little Shop of Horrors) and Lynn Ahrens (Ragtime, Seussical, Once on This Island), breathe fantastic new life into the classic tale of A Christmas Carol.

Ebenezer Scrooge is a prosperous curmudgeon who believes that personal wealth is far more valuable than the happiness and comfort of others. With an infuriated “Bah! Humbug!” Scrooge summates his feelings of Christmas tidings and charitable giving, but he’s forced to face his selfish ways on Christmas Eve when three ghosts lead him through his Past, Present and Future. Thanks to their guidance, Scrooge recognizes his faults and greets Christmas morning with a cheerful “Happy Christmas” before spending the day reconnecting and sharing love with those that mean the most to him.

Students must audition for this pre-professional advanced theatre group.

Aug 18 - 19 | Auditions (Required Grades 3-12)

Auditions will take place on Friday, August 18 and Saturday, August 19 (callbacks for selected students on Sunday, August 20) at First Congregational Church of Winter Park (225 S Interlachen Ave, Winter Park, FL 32789) and are mandatory. Please note that not all students will be selected to join the cast of A Christmas Carol.

Students may audition for the Jr. Company, Company, and Jr. Troupe Fall 2023 Play, Alice in Wonderland, at the same time if desired. Please click the link for more information, as audition requirements are different if also auditioning for A Christmas Carol! Please note that students can only do either Alice in Wonderland or A Christmas Carol, but will not be able to do both.

In the event that your student is not selected to be a part of the cast for A Christmas Carol, they can still have a holiday musical experience at CFCArts! Auditions for our Companies/Jr. Troupe Fall 2023 Musical, Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer Jr., will take place September 29-30. Please click the link for more information about this upcoming production! Students are able to participate in both Alice in Wonderland and Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer Jr. but must attend both August and September auditions to do so. Students are not able to participate in both A Christmas Carol and Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer Jr.

If your young actor wishes to participate without auditioning, that is completely fine! You will be able to note that preference on your student’s Registration Form: Grades 3-12. We are happy to find a place in this production for your young performer, even if they are audition-shy!

    Service Project

Central Florida Community Arts exists to serve and build community through the arts. With our mission in mind, our Youth Theatre Program students for each production have the opportunity to participate in a service project to benefit another non-profit organization in Central Florida - and to build friendships and bond with their castmates! These service projects are carefully selected to align with the message of the story that our students are telling on stage.

A Christmas Carol shares the important message that “abundance and charity” are vital to the human spirit, and showing kindness and care to our community, especially the young and ill, is of the utmost importance. For this show’s service project, CFCArts Youth Theatre Programs are proud to partner with the Ronald McDonald House for their Baking Buddies program, coming together to bake nourishing meals and treats for the guest families and children being cared for at the Ronald McDonald House!
