What will happen at the workshop for students in grades 9-12?

From 11 AM-12 PM, this one-hour workshop will be an informal conversation between our students and Clark and Josh. Students will have the opportunity to have their questions about television and film answered, and Clark and Josh will share more about their own artistic journeys and share what they feel is important for young creatives to know about bringing their own art to life.

What is Neverlanders all about?

An energetic 13-year-old named Angela fulfills her dream of reaching Neverland, only to find it’s not the paradise she imagined. When the magical island faces imminent demise, Angela must confront its inhabitants and fight to save Neverland before it’s too late.

In the pilot episode, this is what happens: Convinced she witnessed Peter Pan soaring outside her house, a hyper 13-year-old girl goes to extreme lengths to capture him and escape to the fabled Neverland as her friends, family and homework stand against her.

Who are Clark and Josh?

Clark:
Clark Levi is a creator and producer for theatre, film and online content based in Orlando. He’s focused on creating opportunities for underserved voices, using art to amplify real life stories, creating on no budget, and group-devising new works. He pursues this mission with the company Beth Marshall Presents as a theater and video producer, and with his own production company Lightup Shoebox. With Lightup Shoebox, he produces works and events such as “Play Date”, a weekly club for any and everyone to meet and create collaborative work, fun and for free. Clark believes everyone can make art and everyone should have access to do so.

Josh:
Joshua Caleb Thomas is an award-winning filmmaker and theatre producer driven by a commitment to authentic storytelling and cultural diversity. Starting his journey as an independent music video director in high school, Josh honed his skills in cinematography, editing, and directing. Now, through his production company, Phantom Funhouse, he produces genre-driven narratives that subvert the traditional boundaries of film and theatre. With a deep passion for amplifying diverse voices, Josh believes storytelling is a universal language that should unite and inspire everyone, no matter their differences.

Together: Josh and Clark are creative partners whose notable accomplishments include the pilot of Neverlanders, the premiere of their adaptation of Stephen King’s The Woman in the Room at the Central Florida Film Festival, the award-winning production Carmilla: An American Gothic at the Orlando International Fringe Theatre Festival, and the documentary Oh Boy for Orlando DigiFringe. In all of their work, they focus on finding new perspectives through adapting and reimagining, and creating opportunities for diverse groups of people to learn, create and collaborate.
