Roald Dahl’s Willy Wonka Jr. (Grades PreK-12)

Students in Grades PreK through 12 this school year: Join us for the return of our Youth Theatre Companies with our first-ever Companies and Jr. Troupe musical: Roald Dahl’s Willy Wonka Jr.!

The delicious adventures of Willy Wonka’s chocolate factory light up the stage in this captivating adaptation of Roald Dahl’s fantastical tale. Featuring the enchanting songs from the 1971 film, in addition to a host of fun new songs, Roald Dahl’s Willy Wonka Jr. is a scrumdiddlyumptious musical guaranteed to delight everyone’s sweet tooth.

Roald Dahl’s Willy Wonka Jr. follows enigmatic candy manufacturer Willy Wonka as he stages a contest by hiding golden tickets in five of his scrumptious candy bars. Whomever comes up with these tickets will win a free tour of the Wonka factory, as well as a lifetime supply of candy. Four of the five winning children range from silly to sly, but the fifth is a likeable young lad named Charlie Bucket, who takes the tour in the company of his equally amiable grandfather. The children learn important life lessons in the factory – and discover wonders galore!

There are three ways for students to participate onstage in Roald Dahl’s Willy Wonka Jr.:

  • Jr. Companies – All students in grades PreK-2, playing various roles. No audition required.
  • Companies – Students in grades 3-12, playing various Ensemble and Featured roles. Auditions are encouraged but not required; everyone is welcome!
  • Jr. Troupe – Students in grades 3-12, playing Supporting and Lead roles (click here for Character Descriptions and other information.) Auditions required; everyone will be cast in either the Companies or Jr. Troupe!

  • All auditioners will participate in cold readings from Roald Dahl’s Willy Wonka. The script will be emailed to all auditioners at least two days prior to the auditions. Students may also be asked to participate in cold readings from Aida, even if not auditioning for that production, but will not be considered for Aida casting unless it is marked on their Registration Form: Grades 3-12. No monologue is required.
