Meet Me in St. Louis (Grades PreK-12)

Students entering Grades Pre-K through 12 this school year: Join us for Meet Me in St. Louis! This will be a Youth Theatre Jr. Companies, Companies, and Troupe co-production, with the Troupe playing the lead and supporting roles, and the Jr. Companies and Companies playing the featured and ensemble roles.

Based on the heartwarming MGM film, Meet Me In St. Louis is a rare treasure in the musical theatre: a wholesome and enchanting portrait of a turn-of-the-century American family.

It is the summer of 1903, and the Smith family eagerly anticipates the opening of the 1904 World’s Fair. Over the course of a year, the family’s mutual respect, tempered with good-natured humor, helps them through romance, opportunity, and heartbreaks. The musical includes seven of the best-loved songs from the film, plus ten additional Martin and Blane songs written specially for the stage. Memorable musical numbers include “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas,” “The Boy Next Door,” “The Trolley Song,” and “Whenever I’m with You.”

Auditions for students in Grades 3-12 will take place on August 6 and 7, with callbacks on August 8 for those called. These auditions are mandatory for the Troupe Cast and optional for the Companies Cast, and will determine roles. Students may audition for our Fall Companies and Troupe production of The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe at the same time if desired! Click here for more information about The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe!

Auditions are for placement only – there’s a role for all actors in this production! If you wish to participate without auditioning, that is completely fine! You will be able to note that preference on your Registration Form (see buttons at top of page.) We are happy to find a place in this production for all performers, even if they are audition-shy! As a reminder, students in Grades PreK-2 do not audition.

Audition blocks are listed below, and you can select which one your student will attend on your student’s Registration Form.

  • Block A – Friday, August 6, 5:30-8 PM
  • Block B – Saturday, August 7, 10:30 AM-1 PM
  • Block C – Saturday, August 7, 2-4:30 PM
  • Block D – Saturday, August 7, 5:30-8 PM

Please note that students do need to stay for the entire block, but may be released early.

For certain students, callbacks will take place on Sunday, August 8 from 2-6:30 PM. Not every student will receive a callback; students who are only auditioning for Companies Cast (featured and ensemble roles) will not require a callback. Students will be notified of callback status by 10 PM on Saturday, August 7 via email.
