Our History

The Central Florida Community Arts orchestra was established in the Fall of 2011. Our performances are designed to entertain our audience several times a year, while challenging our performers on a weekly basis. We play a repertoire that ranges from Lennon and McCartney, to Rossini and Copland, to The Planets and The Lord of the Rings. Members of our orchestra have accompanied the CFCArts choir for their major concerts and Summer Broadway performances, playing for over 2,500 patrons at a time. Our members have also formed several small ensembles including a string quartet, a flute choir, a brass quintet and a brass ensemble, providing new performance opportunities and allowing our orchestra to increase our community outreach efforts.

From amateurs to professionals, our 155-piece orchestra is about music and the love of playing in a community setting. It’s non-auditioned so if you are age 18 or over and would like to play with us, fill out an membership interest form, pay the annual due and see why we think we have one of the best community orchestras out there! If you play regularly or are simply looking for a place to re-start after years away from playing, we welcome you to join us!

Big Band

The CFCArts Big Band is one of the newest offerings in CFCArts diverse lineup of ensembles. The Big Band was formed in the Spring of 2017 and has become an attraction for those individuals who enjoy playing music associated with this genre. The band’s repertoire covers the music of Stan Kenton, Count Basie, Buddie Rich, Quincy Jones, Alan Baylock, just to name a few. Our intention is to entertain our audiences by playing music of all styles.

The Big Band rehearses every Sunday evening from 5:15 – 6:45pm at Calvary Orlando. The group utilizes trumpets, saxophones, trombones, piano, bass (acoustic and electric), guitar, and drums. Jazz improvisation and musical experience performing in this style of ensemble is not a necessity for membership. Those individuals with the ability to improvise will find that they have an outlet in this organization.

Amateurs and professionals who enjoy jazz ensemble music and who wish to join others with the same interest will find a home in the CFCArts Big Band. This is a non-auditioned group for those that are 18 years of age or older.  Any questions regarding joining or playing in our organization may contact Priscilla Greenough at 407-937-1800, Ext. 708 or via email at orchestra@CFCArts.com.
