Our History

The Central Florida Community Arts orchestra was established in the Fall of 2011. Our performances are designed to entertain our audience several times a year, while challenging our performers on a weekly basis. We play a repertoire that ranges from Lennon and McCartney, to Rossini and Copland, to The Planets and The Lord of the Rings. Members of our orchestra have accompanied the CFCArts choir for their major concerts and Summer Broadway performances, playing for over 2,500 patrons at a time. Our members have also formed several small ensembles including a string quartet, a flute choir, a brass quintet and a brass ensemble, providing new performance opportunities and allowing our orchestra to increase our community outreach efforts.

From amateurs to professionals, our 155-piece orchestra is about music and the love of playing in a community setting. It’s non-auditioned so if you are age 18 or over and would like to play with us, fill out a membership interest form, pay the annual due and see why we think we have one of the best community orchestras out there! If you play regularly or are simply looking for a place to re-start after years away from playing, we welcome you to join us!

Fall 2020 Season

The CFCArts Symphony Orchestra is currently having virtual orchestra rehearsals at 7:30 each Sunday night and we’d love to have you join us as we dig into some fun, spooky music for the Fall. (Please note: All details are subject to change to adhere to health and safety regulations.)

As long as there aren’t significant changes in the course of the virus and the state and local guidance, we are hoping to return to in-person rehearsals starting September 13th at Calvary Orlando (1199 Clay St, Winter Park, FL 32789). The first several weeks will be only certain sections, but we hope to be able to have the full ensemble together again by mid-October.

We will have strict social-distancing guidelines, extensive sanitizing and cleaning procedures, masks will be required, and we will take rehearsal outdoors every chance we get. We are hoping to have at least a couple of performance opportunities for the orchestra in late October and while they may not look like one of our traditional concerts, they’ll be safe, fun, and exciting chances to get out and connect with our community.

For anyone who is not comfortable returning in person, but who still wants to engage and participate with us, we will also offer hybrid rehearsal formats where you’ll be able to connect via Zoom or hopefully even livestream from our rehearsals to get closer to the full experience.

We hope to return to a more normal routine in early 2021 and we have some incredible music and events on the horizon for the next couple years, so we hope you’ll help us build back some momentum.

All participants in any in-person activities are required to hear to all health and safety guidelines (masks, social distancing, using marked entrances and exits, etc.). Click here to read the CFCArts Health & Safety Guidelines.
