The CFCArts Young Artists Orchestra (YAO) is open to all instrumentalists in Grades 6-12 with one year minimum of experience, and at the directors’ discretion for Grades 3-5, and each rehearsal is a fun, uplifting experience where the students play challenging music from both classical and popular/modern repertoire. The YAO was created to give young instrumentalists from all backgrounds and experience levels a safe and encouraging environment to create music while getting to know other young performers from the community.
The Suzuki String Ensemble is open to students in Grades 1-5, or Grade 6 if students have less than one year of experience. The Suzuki String Ensemble allows students to explore early string technique through Suzuki repertoire and materials, and join the Young Artists Orchestra for selected pieces in the end-of-semester concert. Using the world-renowned Suzuki method for early strings, every child is given the same experience and opportunity to grow. Violin, cello, and viola are accepted. Parents are encouraged to stay for rehearsals although it is not mandatory. Suzuki book and CD are included with tuition.
The Young Artists Orchestra and Suzuki String Ensemble rehearse on a Spring and Fall semester schedule with a concert at the culmination of each semester.
Registration for the YAO is open year round, and new students may audition each week prior to the rehearsal. However, we encourage students to audition during our scheduled Audition times if at all possible (please see the Auditions section below.)
