The Blues is a unique style of music with a rich history originating from African American field hollers. In a period of 50 years, it transformed into a new genre that has since influenced ALL American music that has succeeded it. The Blues has provided a voice for the voiceless during historic periods of oppression and has inspired the lyrical storytelling style we enjoy in music today.
As the nation celebrates Black History Month in February, this program is the perfect way to honor this uniquely American art form.
This 90-minute workshop will feature the history of the Blues and teach participants how to write their own Blues style song. You’ll also enjoy performances by a live vocalist and pianist!
This program is presented by a CFCArts Teaching Artist and hosted by the Winter Park Health Foundation in collaboration with CFCArts.
