Elton John and Tim Rice’s Aida (Grades 6-12)

Students in Grades 6 through 12 this school year: Join us for the return of our Youth Theatre Troupe as we present Elton John and Tim Rice’s Aida!

Winner of four Tony Awards, Elton John and Tim Rice’s Aida is an epic tale of love, loyalty and betrayal, chronicling the love triangle between Aida, a Nubian princess stolen from her country, Amneris, an Egyptian princess, and Radames, the soldier they both love.

An enslaved Nubian princess, Aida, finds her heart entangled with Radames, an Egyptian soldier who is betrothed to the Pharaoh’s daughter, Amneris. As their forbidden love blossoms, Aida is forced to weigh her heart against the responsibility that she faces as the leader of her people. Aida and Radames’ love for one another becomes a shining example of true devotion that ultimately transcends the vast cultural differences between their warring nations, heralding a time of unprecedented peace and prosperity.

With an unforgettable score, featuring soaring ballads and rousing choral numbers, Aida is a modern crowd-pleaser that embraces multicultural casting and exuberant dancing and singing!

If your young actor wishes to participate without auditioning, that is completely fine! You will be able to note that preference on your student’s Registration Form. We are happy to find a place in this production for your young performer, even if they are audition-shy!

If you need assistance locating appropriate sheet music, please contact us at youth@cfcarts.com at least 48 hours before your audition (but preferably sooner!) and we will help you.
  • All auditioners will participate in cold readings from Aida. The script will be emailed to all auditioners at least two days prior to the auditions. Students may also be asked to participate in cold readings from Roald Dahl’s Willy Wonka Jr., even if not auditioning for that production, but will not be considered for Roald Dahl’s Willy Wonka casting unless it is marked on their Registration Form. No monologue is required.
  • Please bring a water bottle. Mess-free, nut-free snacks are permitted to be eaten during breaks only. Gum is not permitted.
