Cobblestone Village

cobvi1_f0
This piece was painted by Kinkade in 1998. It is an offset lithograph on premium paper. It is signed with the artist’s DNA matrix signature authentication system and numbered. It comes with authentication paperwork and appraisal.

About this work, Kinkade said, “We’ve lived here, Nanette and I. Not in this precise village, I’ll grant you, but in many like it, during our long and lovely stay in the English Cotswolds. Cobblestone Village conveys the qualitative difference between life in an English village and an American Village seems a century removed from what we typically find in our fast-paced culture. English country life is slow, rich, satisfying. Activity centers on the village to an extraordinary degree. People come daily for the bakery, dairy, green grocery, butcher shop … as well as the warm conversation and fellowship that truly sustain life. The gathered townsfolk in Cobblestone Village are as natural, as informal as the overgrown hedges that line the lane.”

When I came upon the blooming Spring Gate, I accepted the invitation to explore — partly to satisfy a secret longing for the splendid gardens I expected to discover within. And, since this is a locale of the imagination, I haven’t been disappointed. Once you have entered, the gentle fragrant breezes and the calming trickle of water will keep you wandering endlessly.
